Date: Monday, December 5, 2016

On the 5th December 2016, Keeley Crockett (MMU), in her capacity as Chair IEEEE Women in Engineering United Kingdom and Ireland, organised the event Fun Tech Jobs - A series of short talks on Engineering and Computer Science, designed to Inspire, Educate and Engage! The event was sponsored by the School of Computing, Mathematics & Digital Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University, IEEE Women in Engineering United Kingdom and Ireland, and IEEE Women in Computational Intelligence.

The event provided an opportunity for students, academic and members of the public at all levels to enjoy talks from a high quality programme of speakers on the many career options available in engineering and computer science, followed by a networking session and time for questions and discussion.

At this event, Keeley Crockett did a presentation on iBorderCtrl, allowing for the dissemination of the aims and core of objectives of the projects to a wide and varied audience. The overview of the traveller’s pre-registration system was well received and was followed by a discussion of the ethical and social use of artificial intelligence to detect deception.
